Reporting directly to the President, the Business Development Director is responsible for the proactive development and signing of profitable new business and organic growth opportunities in addition to hiring, training, and development of regional sales management team. Challenge is to expand account base, pursue and close new business, increase revenues and improve profitability.

 

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates complete sales cycle process including prospect list initiation, lead generation, prospect qualification, analysis, pricing, negotiation, proposal preparation and presentation(s), contract signing, start-up and customer service follow-up after the sale.
  • Direct and monitor the work flow of the inside sales team.
  • Develop and manage operating budgets.
  • Day-to-day staff management and development including recruitment, hiring, goal setting and performance coaching -- all with full support of corporate office.
  • Act as a liaison between the customers and operations staff.
  • Manage sourcing of customers. Build and maintain relationships with customers and assist and direct team members in sourcing and growing customer base.
  • Development of sales team and leaders and furthering growth of the team and office. 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Marketing or equivalent years of experience
  • Seven (7) years of third Party Logistics Sales experience
  • Five (5) years Sales Management Leadership experience
  • Suite of Services (TMS, Transportation Brokerage Services, International Transportation)
  • Develop and execute business plan strategies (proven track record of success)

 

    • Sector/Vertical’s (Food-ambient/temp controlled, Retail, CPG etc.)
    • Supply Chain Management software knowledgeable (TMS-MercuryGate)
    • Computer proficient (Office suite, Power Point, Word, Excel)
  • Strong Presenter to Executive Level Management
  • Team player (demonstrated coordination with Operations, Logistics Engineering, IT, Finance)
  • Proven negotiations ability
  • Location: TBD
  • Travel: 50%
  • Ability to pass a background investigation and drug test
